Austrian Embassy Berlin - Culture & Networking

Julia Kosegarten

Thank you very much for this special invitation. It was an evening of touching words, good conversations and warm tones. We were welcomed by Dr. Alexander Marschik, the appointed austrian ambassador to Germany.

In her speech, Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler, the long-time president of the Salzburg Festival and special advisor for foreign culture in the austrian foreign ministry, emphasized the power of culture and its importance in cooperation because it opens hearts.🎻

For children and young people, it supports education - for adults, it supports communication. Through music we can learn to look at topics from different perspectives, enter into dialog and find common ground.

Director of the Mozarteum University Salzburg Prof. Elisabeth Gutjahr and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Fügenschuh, Director of the Paris Lodron University Salzburg, also spoke of the close connection between art, culture and science.

Neelam Brader, austrian mezzo-soprano with Indian roots, accompanied by Spanish pianist Albert Mena, sang the aria Habanera from the opera Carmen with great passion🌺

It was a great pleasure to be there, to finally see friends from Salzburg & Vienna again after many years and to meet new people...what a great gift!🎼

Education, Business and Diversity

Julia Kosegarten

These important topics were given a lot of space and time at the IHK Berlin's Education X Business festival. I was also very encouraged by the positive reactions when talking about mental health, and I am pleased about the valuable exchange - many participants and speakers encouraged me and I was able to take this motivation directly into the new week!

The topic of neurodiversity plays an equally important role in the field of education & business, precisely because we are all individuals and there are also neurodivergent people, we have a larger catalog of ideas and strengths at our disposal and this brings us forward together - sometimes very quickly and sometimes we also have the feeling that the tempo is slowing down - but that is also the case in music and deliberately composed in this way ... so important subtleties come to light and new effects can emerge.

As an opera singer, I was not only trained to sing the libretto set to music, but also to create changing dynamics in conjunction with different tempi together with the orchestra. It was important for us to grow together as a team through rehearsals beforehand and then pay attention to each other during the performance, as the many instruments and musicians all have their own individual sound and character, and this is exactly what ultimately leads to this overwhelming effect that reaches and connects people.

Diversity therefore means that we gain strength, possibilities and opportunities - if we give ourselves the time to listen to each other and tune into each other.

Many thanks to the IHK Berlin for inviting me to the education festival!
